Why?
Because the new CEO of Aston Martin is following me on Twitter, that's why!

Lightning Zone is a Kuwaiti dignitary.

You'd wish.
No, I followed him for quite some time and posted replies to his tweets, I even made fun of Nissan's self driving car tech. in some of the tweets he was promoting it. And now, when he got his new account, I am surprised to find out that he is following me.

Nissan's self driving car tech works and has been tested on the streets of Japan, so I don't know what you're getting at.
Unless you made fun of Nissan's self driving car tech simply because it exists, in which case Lightning Zone is not the future.

By the way, I followed you by accident. That's happened to me like three times recently, because of the ninja-flash drop down menu that occurs when you hover over someone's name. But everyone's been courteous enough to follow me back, so thanks I guess!

It was kind of difficult the first day after the Kinja switch.
I had to tell like 50 people why I just followed them, and that I'm not actually a creep.

Nah, I wasn't feeling very good this morning, and I wanted to make fun of something and his tweet became the perfect target. His answer was full of professionalism but it wasn't PR BS.

Oh, ok. Your question about liability is actually pretty huge right now.
The general consensus is that the manufacturers will probably be held liable . Some think they might tack on a premium to cover their liability, but the insurance companies obviously aren't happy with that.

Depends on how good the software will be, if crashes will be a thing of the past with all the new tech. that gets rolled out every year, nobody will need insurance companies.

I don't think it will ever be perfect. Especially if all the cars don't end up talking to one another like Popular Science insists will happen.
What interests me is how driverless cars will integrate with driver'd cars, and how lawmakers and the legal system will handle the transition. I think the transition period will be very long, and driver'd cars will still be a thing well into the latter half of this century, at least.

But some cars already have pre-collision breaking and self accelerating systems that use radar and cameras. Even if c2c fails, the car will still be able to do some avoidance.

Oh, I'm sure things will be much safer, but there will still be some accidents, esp. if human-controlled cars/bicycles/fleshy-bodies are still out there, roaming the streets.
